Mikako Sakurada attends the second year at Yazawa Gakuin art school, the fashion section to be more specific; Tsutomu Yamaguchi is her neighbour and childhood friend who attends the same school, but the art section. They know each other from their birth, but they aren't a coulple yet. Because of this Tsutomu starts going out with Mariko Nakasu, nicknamed "Nice Body-ko", making Mikako feel very jealousy, although she would never admit it.
When Yuusuke, one of Tsutomu friends, shows interest in Mikako is Tsutomu who starts indering their relationship. This is the reason that makes him declare his love to Mikako, who has already understood her true feelings for him.
So they start going out together.
The company, composed by Mikako, Tsutomu, Mariko, Jiro, Lisa, P-chan, Yusuke, decides to create the art group Akindo and they start selling their creation at the flea market during the weekends.
Meanwhile we meet another new character, Ayumi, who suddenly falls in love with Yusuke. This one has a crush on Mariko, and they start a relationship which it isn't all quiet.
It's the end of the school year, and the Yawagaku organizes the fashion contest: every classroom of the last year (so everyone of the Akindo) have to prepare a set of wears.
The Mikako's has a wedding theme, while Lisa's has a punk theme.
It's Mikako who wins the contest and the prize is a study trip in England where she can improve herself and n make her dream come true: to become the greatest stilist of the whole Japan.
Mikako is happy for this oppurtunity, but she doesn't want to live so far from Tsutomu so she thinks she had better refuse the offer.
But at the end Tsutomu makes her understand how important this be for her career and that despite the real separation between them, they will always love each other: and those tender words make Mikako accept.
Meanwhile, Mikako's parents - who divorced some years ago - decide to go back on their past decision and they start living together again and Ruriko finds out that she is pregnant! So, while Mika is in England, her young sister Miwako borns.

The story ends with a final chapter that shows all the happy couples: Mikako and Tsutomu are married and Mikako is expecting her first child; Risa and Takeshi are married and they have a child of the same age of Miwako; Mariko has married Shu and they have child of 4 years. Yusuke has married Ayumi and they are expecting a baby too.
